The programmer role is a combination of both IT development and business support. This role will assist in implementing manufacturing systems at CLIENT facilities as well as designing and coding solutions to support the manufacturing business relying on these systems. The role includes significant programming/design responsibilities as well as travel to implement system solutions. Position will provide candidate with great opportunities and exposure due to frequent client assistance and interfacing.
Key Responsibilities Primary assignment will be to provide support to manufacturing applications which includes the following tasks; a. VB.NET required; Visual Basic and/or Progress experience a plus. b. Travel to manufacturing locations for application installation and/or training users on system best practices. Frequent customer interface. c. Gathering functional modification requirements, defining technical requirements and/or assist in code/design of needed functionality. d. Document/assist in application testing of new functionality. e. Resolve user help desk calls related to Planning, Scheduling, Shop Floor Data Collection, Material Control and Costing as well as technical issues related to system access and application interfaces. f. Assist other manufacturing focused IT teams with needed tasks including interface testing and design. g. Create/maintain documentation for user and internal IT needs.
Qualifications 1. Technical skills required include VB.NET programming in a structured development environment. Knowledge of Visual Basic with AS/400 database and Progress also a plus. 2. Communication skills needed for both written and verbal interaction including ability to interact with other technical team members and clients/customers. Will also participate in implementation and help desk assignments. 3. Understanding of system design and testing work flow needed to document issues, define solutions and/or test/rollout application changes. 4. Ability to prioritize effectively while troubleshooting issues in a fast-paced multitasking environment. 6. Flexible to travel within the US and Canada (up to 60% of time). 7. College Degree (Associates or BA) highly preferred. 8. Experience with other manufacturing systems a plus. |
