Prospective DPLM IT interns must have the following skills and experience:
· Must be organized and able to think “outside the box”· General understanding of the principles and concepts of computer networking.· Experience with one or more of the applications in Microsoft Office 2003 (preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Visio. (Sharepoint 2003, Microsoft Project is optional)· In-depth experience with Microsoft 95/98 and Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system(s).· Ability to produce written documentation and perform technical evaluations.· Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow directions and established procedures.· Must be able to take general direction and then develop a work plan, in conjunction with supervisor, to carry out required tasks necessary to accomplish a stated goal.
The selected interns will be involved in the following activities:
· Setup and configuration of applications, systems, desktop computers, thin clients and printers in support of IT Desktop Management projects and activities.· Troubleshoot and resolve problems with desktop operating systems and application software.· Assist IT Manager with technology related problems/projects. · Inventory of Workstations, Thin Clients, and Printers. · Workstation consolidation and cleanup· Prepare and producing technical documentation related to various Applications and Lab Systems· Evaluate and test relevant software application suites (for both desktop and server-based products) · Port mapping
