Lecture Playback Options Using Mac

There is currently only one available option in order to be able to view COL lectures on a Mac. The following setup is required:

Note: COL for Mac is only supported through the Safari browser. We assume that your operating system includes JRE 1.4.2 or above. The JRE is installed by default in Mac OS X, or may be downloaded through the Apple Support website.

1. Download Flip4Mac
   Download and install the free trial version of the Flip4Mac plug-in 2.1.3 for QuickTime player. Install the plug-in using the standard configuration offered by the installation program.
   Note: The newest version of Flip4Mac 2.2 does not work correctly with COL playback at this time.
   
   
2. Configure Flip4Mac:
   • From the Apple start menu, select 'System Preferences...'
   • Double-click the 'Flip4Mac WMV' icon (shown below) to enter the configuration menu
     
     
     
     
   • In the Flip4Mac configuration menu (shown below) under the 'Movie' tab, check the 'Create streaming movies' checkbox
     
     
     
     
   • Close the Flip4Mac configuration menu to accept your changes
   • If your Safari browser is open, exit through the Safari menu (Safari -> Quit Safari). This step is necessary; closing the Safari window without quitting will not work.
     
     
3. View lecture recording:
   Open Safari again and go to COLWeb. Under VIEW LECTURES select one of the instant (Java) playback options next to the lecture date you would like to view.
