Course Grouping Management (Faculty)
Q: What is the average time I should allow for online students to take the exam? A: Typically the dates assigned for online students start on the same day as the in-class section and the dates range from 3 to 7 days. You might want to make sure that there is a weekend within your exam timeline. This way, students who work long hours during the week are covered.

Page Summary On the VIEW COURSE GROUPINGS page you will see all your current course groups. From here you can edit, remove existing or add new course groups. COLWeb provides a flexible course binding structure, which allows you to group your current courses and sections in any combination of ways. When you group your courses, you're actually just combining views. The underlying courses or sections remain separate, and it is always possible to make changes to items in a single section, even if you only view that section through a group. How are my courses grouped by default? By default, all sections of one course are combined into a single group. This means that if you have an online section attached to your in-class section, the two will be combined in a group. For example, CSC-211-801 and CSC-211-810 (OL) are combined into a group called CSC-211.
Because all related course sections are grouped by default, multiple in-class sections of the same course are also be grouped by default. For example, if you are teaching a day section (501) and evening section (801) of CSC 211, they are combined into a group called CSC-211.
Adding a new Course Group The steps for creating a custom group are the same, whether the group contains one section or all of your sections. You will find a link to the Course Grouping screen if you click on Configuration from the left side menu. To add a new course group, click the ADD COURSE GROUP button placed above your course group list and the adding field appears on top of your course list. Enter the name for your new course group and select the course sections you would like to bind in this group. Then click SUBMIT and your new course group shows up in the list and will also be available on the MY CURRENT COURSES page or in the TERM & COURSE SELECTOR.
Modifying an existing Course Group In some instances you may want to unbind two or more sections of the same course or add another section to an existing course group. If you want to split two or more sections of one course group unselect the section(s) you don’t want for this group and click SUBMIT. Now create a new course group for each section you just unselected by following the steps for adding a new course group. Note: If one of your sections does not belong to a named group, it won't appear in your courses menu or the TERM & COURSE SELECTOR. If you unbind two sections, you'll need to create a new group to contain the section you removed from the original group.
Deleting a Course Group To reduce clutter on your interface, you may want to delete the default or custom course groups. To delete course groups, click on the REMOVE button next to the group you want to delete. After you clicked OK in the appearing pop-up window your group will be removed from the list. Note: If you remove a course group you are not removing any files, posts or notes. All items will still be available in the individual sections.
